I’m a secret fan of Carrie Underwood. American Idol mania aside, her lyrics get to the heart of real issues like heartache, growing up, and being true to oneself. One particularly poignant song of hers is called Starts With Goodbye. In case you’re not a Carrie Underwood fan, the chorus is as follows:
I guess it’s gonna have to hurt,
I guess I’m gonna have to cry,
And let go of some things I’ve loved,
To get to the other side,
I guess it’s gonna break me down,
Like falling when you try to fly,
It’s sad, but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life,
Starts with goodbye.
How true is that? Sometimes moving on with the rest of your life starts with goodbye. How many times have you been able to identify the need for someone else to say goodbye to a bad relationship, wrong job, or destructive habit? It’s easier to see that someone else should move on, but what about you?
Is there something or someone you need to say “goodbye” to in order to move on toward achieving one of your personal goals?
