Homemade Hummus

 

Have you ever met anyone who doesn’t like hummus?  I haven’t yet. It is a vegetarian/vegan staple, goes with everything, is healthy, and is super easy to make – the perfect food. And other than the tahini (which I also make at home, pictured below in the glass bowl, recipe here) the ingredients are likely things you have in your kitchen already.

Tahini is the secret to a great hummus but knowing that it is just blended sesame seeds makes me resist the idea of paying US$10 for a small jar of it (in Hong Kong) when I can buy a bag of sesame seeds for practically free).

Aunt Olive’s Bean Salad

Don’t you love recipes that have been passed down through a family? This one is a classic in my family and we have affectionately called it Aunt Olive’s Bean Salad after its creator, my great-aunt Olive. Real name. No olives in the salad.

I understand if you want to rename it after your aunt, but it will remain a really quick, easy, healthy salad that makes a colourful side dish or lunch.
