By uskatpayday loans Isn’t this refreshingly simple? Except for the learn to say No part… The Secret to Life by Bud Caddell The below text is a version of a talk given to graduating MBA students (I found the speech here). It caught my attention because it came through my inbox at the same time as a 5 year reunion invitation from my MBA class.
I like the simple advice from this speech, and wanted to share it. (It is not just for MBA graduates) Imagine that you are 45 and are looking back on your last 15-20 years. Is your work, and life, full of meaning? Don’t . . . . . . Dream chasing can sometimes (ok, often) be riddled with financial obstacles. Like say, travel. Unless you’re being paid to travel as part of your career, it can get expensive! I think traveling is great, but there are lots of little costs that add up over the duration of a vacation that are easy to account for when budgeting. The most obvious things you probably budget for are transportation and accommodations, but what about food and entertainment? What about insurance and travel gear? My husband and I have just spent 8 days in Vancouver, a city that is more expensive to . . . . . . I have a friend who has another friend with my name. So my friend has two friends named Danielle, and we occasionally run into each other at different parties. Let’s call us Danielle A and Danielle B. Whenever I see Danielle B, I a) remember that we’ve met and share a name, and thus b) remember her name. Easy, right? Right. Except that whenever I see Danielle B, she’s like, “Nice to meet you, I’m Danielle. What’s your name again?” and I’m like, “Are you kidding me?” So. It appears that forgetting someone’s name – even if you share that name – . . . . . . Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? …Your playing small does not serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. …And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. . . . . . . |
